From Fear to Boldness
Acts 2 | Peter’s First Sermon
There is something incredible about watching God transform a person.
In Acts 2, Peter stands before a crowd in Jerusalem and boldly proclaims the Gospel of Jesus Christ. What makes that moment so powerful is remembering who Peter used to be. This is the same disciple who denied even knowing Jesus just weeks earlier. The same man who once stood around a fire filled with fear now stands before thousands filled with the Holy Spirit.
Pentecost changed everything.
As the Spirit moved, Peter preached a simple but life-changing message: Jesus is alive. He pointed people to the cross, the resurrection, and the hope found in repentance and salvation through Christ. Scripture tells us the people were “cut to the heart,” and that day, around 3,000 people gave their lives to Jesus.
Peter’s story is a reminder that God loves to use imperfect people. Our failures do not disqualify us from being used by Him. In fact, some of the greatest testimonies of God’s grace come from hearts that have been restored and transformed by His Spirit.
The same Holy Spirit that empowered Peter is still at work today. God is still taking ordinary people and using them in extraordinary ways. He is still calling His Church to live boldly, love deeply, and proclaim the hope of Jesus to a world in need.
Maybe today you feel unqualified, fearful, or uncertain. Take heart. God has never been looking for perfect people; He is looking for willing hearts surrendered to Him.
May we, like Peter, become people who move from fear to faith, from silence to boldness, and from simply following Jesus to boldly sharing Him with others.
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”
— Acts 2:38 NIV
