You Don’t Have to Walk with Jesus Alone

Hebrews 10:24–25 — “Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together… but encouraging one another.”

One of the most common misunderstandings about faith is this:
we assume following Jesus is meant to be just me and God.

Our relationship with Christ is deeply personal, but it was never meant to be private.

All throughout Scripture, God forms a people, not isolated individuals. The early church didn’t simply gather for worship services; they shared meals, prayed together, carried one another’s burdens, and spoke encouragement into each other’s lives. They knew something we often forget:

You can attend church regularly and still feel unknown.
You can believe the right things and still struggle quietly.
You can hear sermons weekly and still not experience lasting change.

Why?
Because information shapes our thinking… but community shapes our hearts.

This is why Journey Groups are such an important part of life at The Ridge.

Journey Groups aren’t another church activity to add to your calendar. They are spaces where faith moves from something we hear about to something we actually live. In these smaller circles, Scripture becomes practical, prayer becomes personal, and encouragement comes right when it’s needed.

Real spiritual growth often doesn’t happen during a sermon.
It happens in a living room, around a table, when someone else says, “I’ve struggled with that too,” and you realize you’re not alone in learning to follow Jesus.

Even Jesus modeled this for us. He preached to crowds, but He walked closely with twelve , sharing life, answering questions, correcting, teaching, and encouraging them along the way. That was intentional. Following Him was always meant to be a shared journey.

You don’t need a Journey Group because you’re doing poorly spiritually.
You need a Journey Group because you were never designed to grow alone.

If you’ve been thinking about joining one, consider this your invitation. You don’t need all the answers. You don’t have to have your life together. You just need a willingness to show up and walk alongside others who are learning to follow Jesus, too.

God often does His deepest work in us not only through what we hear on Sundays, but through the people He places beside us during the week.

Prayer

Lord, thank You for giving us a church family and not just a place to attend. Lead us into a genuine community where we can encourage one another, pray for one another, and grow together in Christ. Use our Journey Groups to help us belong deeply, grow daily, serve joyfully, and live sent into the world.

Amen.
