PEACE

John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.”

Peace can feel like a distant dream in our fast-paced, anxious world. Yet Jesus promises a peace that is not of this worlda peace that doesn’t shift with circumstances or disappear in hardship. He gave this promise to His disciples during a moment of looming uncertainty, reminding us that His peace is not fragile; it is anchored in His presence. True peace does not come from what is happening around us but from the One who is dwelling within us.

Isaiah tells us that perfect peace is the result of a steadfast minda mind fixed on God’s character rather than the chaos of life. This is the peace that guards, that calms, and that carries us. It does not deny our struggles; it meets us in them. Advent peace is the steady assurance that God has not abandoned us, that Christ is still Emmanuel, and that we are safe in His hands. Even when the world is unsettled, the heart anchored in Jesus can be still.

Prince of Peace, quiet our restless hearts and remind us that Your presence is our refuge. Fix our thoughts on You this week, that we might experience the peace that surpasses all understanding. When fear rises, speak calm. When uncertainty comes, steady us with Your faithful love. Fill us with Your peace, and help us reflect it to a world longing for rest. Amen.
