Standing Between What Was and What Will Be

Scripture: “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
— Lamentations 3:22–23

There’s something sacred about the end of a year.

We stand in a thin placebetween what has been and what will be. Behind us are moments we cherish and moments we’d rather forget. Ahead of us is a future we cannot fully see. And right here, in this in-between space, God meets us.

Some of us end the year full of gratitude. Others end it tired. Some carry joy. Others carry grief, disappointment, or unanswered prayers. The good news is this: God is not limited by the year you had. Our success or failure does not measure his faithfulness. It is steady, constant, and sure.

Scripture reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning. Not new every January. Not new after we get it all together. Every morning. That means God doesn’t wait for the calendar to change before He begins something new in us.

As you close this year, please take a moment to look backnot to relive it, but to release it. Thank God for the gifts. Trust Him with the wounds. Lay down what you were never meant to carry into the next season.

And then look ahead with hopenot because you know what’s coming, but because you know Who goes with you.

The same God who was faithful in January is faithful in December.
The same God who carried you through is already standing in what’s next.

So as this year ends, rest in this truth:
God is not finished. His mercy is still flowing. And His faithfulness will meet you again tomorrow.
