There is something sacred about the quiet strength of a mother.
Don’t Just Stand There

Scripture: Acts 1:1–11

There are moments in life when something significant ends, and we’re left wondering what comes next. Maybe it’s the end of a season, the closing of a chapter, or the completion of something you worked hard for. That tension between gratitude for what was and uncertainty about what’s ahead can feel overwhelming.

The disciples knew that feeling.

They had seen Jesus crucified. They had also seen Him risen. For forty days, He taught them about the Kingdom of God and gave them hope beyond imagination. Then, in Acts 1, Jesus ascended into heaven before their eyes. Imagine standing there watching Him disappear into the clouds. Surely they were stunned, confused, and maybe even asking, What now?

But the ascension was not the end of Jesus’ work—it was the beginning of the Church’s mission.

Before He ascended, Jesus gave them this promise:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses…”
(Acts 1:8, ESV)

Jesus did not leave them empty-handed. He left them empowered. The same is true for us today. We are not called to live for Christ in our own strength. We are given the Holy Spirit to guide us, strengthen us, and fill us with courage.

Then the angels asked the disciples a striking question:

“Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven?”
(Acts 1:11, ESV)

In other words: Don’t just stand there.

There was work to do. People needed hope. The gospel needed to spread. The world needed witnesses.

And that same call still echoes today.

Sometimes we spend too much time standing still, waiting for perfect conditions, more clarity, or a better moment to obey God. But Jesus has already given us our assignment. Our “Jerusalem” may be our family, workplace, neighborhood, or community. Our mission begins where we are.

Jesus reigns. His Spirit empowers. His mission continues through His people.

So don’t just stand there. Step forward in faith today.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that You reign at the right hand of the Father. Thank You for giving us Your Holy Spirit to strengthen and guide us. Forgive us for the times we hesitate or stand still. Help us to move forward in faith, boldly sharing Your love wherever You send us. Use our lives for Your mission. Amen.

After Easter: Living Sent

The resurrection of Jesus was never meant to be the end of the story; it was the beginning of a movement.

After rising from the grave, Jesus did not call His followers to simply admire what had happened. He called them forward. He gathered ordinary men and women, many still carrying fear, questions, and uncertainty, and He entrusted them with an extraordinary purpose: to carry the hope of the Gospel into the world.

That truth still speaks to us today.

Many believers live as though faith is only about attending church, receiving encouragement, and making it through the week. While gathering together is vital, the Christian life was always meant to be more than sitting; it was meant to involve going. We are called to live as people who have been changed by Jesus and sent by Jesus.

Sometimes that calling looks dramatic, but often it is wonderfully simple.

It may look like encouraging a discouraged friend.

It may look like praying with a coworker.

It may look like serving your neighbor in a practical need.

It may look like inviting someone to worship.

It may look like showing kindness in a harsh world.

God often uses everyday obedience to accomplish eternal things.

The beautiful promise of Christ is that He never sends His people alone. His Spirit strengthens us, guides us, and gives us courage for every opportunity placed before us. You do not need to have every answer, every gift, or every plan figured out. You simply need a willing heart.

This season after Easter is a reminder that resurrection power is still at work. Jesus is alive, and because He lives, His people can live with purpose.

So this week, ask the Lord: Who can I love well? Who can I encourage? Where are You sending me today?

You may be surprised how God uses one faithful step.

“As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

Restored and Commissioned

Scripture: John 21: 15
“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon son of John, do you love me?’”

Peter knew what failure felt like.

He had walked closely with Jesus, witnessed miracles, and boldly declared his loyalty. Yet when pressure came, Peter denied Jesus three times. After the resurrection, Peter carried the weight of regret, wondering if he had ruined everything.

Maybe you know that feeling too.

Perhaps there are moments you wish you could undo. Words you wish you hadn’t said. Decisions you wish you could rewrite. Failures that still echo in your mind.

But John 21 gives us beautiful hope: Jesus seeks out failures not to condemn them, but to restore them.

Jesus met Peter on the shore, prepared breakfast, and invited him to come close. Then three times Jesus asked, “Do you love Me?” Each question was not meant to shame Peter ; it was meant to heal him. For every denial, Jesus gave an opportunity for restoration. For every failure, Jesus spoke purpose again:

Feed My Lambs

Take care of My sheep

Feed My sheep

What grace.

Peter thought his story was over, but Jesus was just beginning a new chapter.

That same grace is available today. Your worst moment does not have the final word, Jesus does. He still restores broken hearts, renews weary souls, and recommissions those who thought they were disqualified.

If you love Him, then follow Him. Serve Him. Trust Him. Walk forward in grace.

Because no failure is final with the risen Christ.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You that You do not abandon us in our failures. Thank You for meeting us with mercy instead of condemnation. Restore what has been broken in me, renew my purpose, and help me follow You again with joy. Amen

Amen

After Easter: When Faith Feels Uncertain

Easter Sunday is powerful. We celebrate, we worship, and we boldly proclaim, “He is risen!” But what happens after Easter, when life settles back into its normal rhythms?

In John 20:19–31, we find the disciples not celebrating, but hiding. Fear had them locked behind closed doors. And in that moment, Jesus comes to them and speaks, “Peace be with you” (John 20:19).

Not long after, Thomas wrestles with doubt. When the others tell him they’ve seen Jesus, he responds honestly: “Unless I see… I will not believe” (John 20:25). Yet Thomas doesn’t walk away; he stays with the disciples. And a week later, Jesus meets him right where he is.

Jesus doesn’t rebuke Thomas. He invites him.
“Stop doubting and believe” (John 20:27).

This reminds us of something important: Jesus is not threatened by our doubts; He meets us in them.

Maybe you’ve had moments like Thomas. Moments where faith felt difficult, where questions outweighed certainty. If so, you’re not alone, and you’re not far from God.

Scripture encourages us:
“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess… not giving up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:23–25).

Doubt doesn’t disqualify you. In fact, when brought to Jesus, it can lead to deeper faith. Thomas went from questioning to declaring, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:28).

So wherever you find yourself today, full of faith or full of questions, stay close. Stay connected. Stay open.

Hope in the Middle of Darkness

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” -John 16:33

Before the resurrection came the silence of the tomb.

Before the celebration of Easter morning came the sorrow of Good Friday.

For the disciples, those days must have felt like the end of everything they believed in. The one they had followed, trusted, and loved had been crucified.

Hope seemed lost.

Yet what looked like defeat was actually God preparing the greatest victory in history.

Many of us experience moments like this in our own lives. Seasons where God feels distant. Situations where answers seem delayed. Circumstances that appear hopeless.

But the message of Easter reminds us of something powerful:

God is still working, even in the silence.

The tomb was not the end.

And whatever challenge we face today, the same truth remains, God’s redemption is often unfolding in ways we cannot yet see.

Prayer

Lord, when life feels uncertain or heavy, remind me that You are still at work. Help me hold on to hope, knowing that Your power is greater than any darkness. Amen.

"Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." -John 15:13

As Easter approaches, our attention slowly shifts toward the cross.

The cross reminds us that love is not merely a feeling; it is a sacrifice.

Jesus did not simply teach about love.
He demonstrated it in the most profound way imaginable.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”- Proverbs 3:5–6

One of the hardest parts of faith is surrender.

We often say we trust God, but when life becomes uncertain, we quickly begin leaning on our own understanding. We try to control outcomes, solve problems alone, and manage the future ourselves.

Yet the path to Easter reminds us that God’s plan often unfolds in ways we would never expect.

The disciples expected a political Messiah.

Instead, Jesus washed feet.

They expected a conquering king.

Instead, Jesus carried a cross.

They expected victory through power.

Instead, God brought victory through sacrifice.

Trusting God means believing that His wisdom is greater than our perspective. Even when we cannot see the full picture, we trust that He is guiding the path ahead.

As we move closer to Easter, this is a good moment to ask:

Where am I trying to control what only God can lead?

What situation in my life requires deeper trust?

God’s promise remains steady: when we acknowledge Him, He directs our paths.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to trust You more deeply. When I am tempted to rely on my own understanding, remind me that Your ways are always better. Guide my steps and help me follow where You lead. Amen

Turning Our Hearts Back to God

Scripture: Joel 2:12–13
"Even now," declares the Lord, "return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning."

As we begin the journey toward Easter, the first step is not celebration, it is returning.

Throughout Scripture, whenever God prepares His people for renewal, He first calls them back to Himself. Joel’s words remind us that God is not looking for outward performances of religion. He is inviting something deeper: a heart that is fully His.

Sometimes we drift without even realizing it. Life becomes busy. Faith becomes routine. Prayer becomes quick. Scripture becomes occasional.

Yet God’s invitation is always the same: “Return to me.”

The beautiful truth of the Gospel is that God does not wait with condemnation—He waits with compassion. Joel says He is “gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.”

Lent and the weeks leading to Easter are an opportunity to pause and ask:

Where have I drifted from God?

What habits have replaced time with Him?

What would it look like to return wholeheartedly?

Easter reminds us that Jesus did not come simply to improve our lives. He came to restore our relationship with God completely.

And restoration always begins with returning.

Prayer

Lord, search my heart and reveal anything that has pulled me away from You. Help me return to You fully not out of guilt, but out of love. Renew my heart as I begin this journey toward Easter. Amen.
