Stop What You're Doing Right Now And...

I think we get hung up too much in thinking that acts of service have to be something HUGE and EXTRAVAGANT to really count. Don't get me wrong, it's amazing to be able to drop ten grand for a mission organization or provide multiple families with an outrageous and over-the-top Christmas. But how often do we really have the resources to do HUGE things?

On the other hand...

I believe that the shock of doing something small for someone else can be just as powerful.

*A simple card in the mail telling someone how great they are.
*Helping someone pick up their groceries when their bag split open.
*Paying for the person's meal behind you in the drive thru.
*Sending a text to a friend, reminding them that you're praying for them.

Let me give you the top four reasons to stop what you're doing and SERVE someone in a small way RIGHT NOW:

1. More joy.

That's what our current message series is all about. The more I get the focus off myself, the more joy I'll have.

2. Better Relationships.

Here is the key phrase that will strengthen any relationship: "How can I help?"

3. More meaning.

We find our purpose in life by learning to give our lives away. When loving God and loving others becomes our purpose, we find true meaning.

4. Positive example for others.

I don't want to freak you out but people are watching you! If everything were to end right now... I would want people to know two things about me: That I loved God and loved others. I pray that I set a great example.

Jesus actually provided the key to success, happiness and joy: "If you want to be great, you must be the servant..." Matt. 20:26, CEV.

Yes, even the smallest acts of service can leave a huge impact!

So, what's one simple way I can serve someone today? What are you waiting for? Go do it!

Right now... go on! You'll be glad you did.
